This project by artist Evogeneao is to make the tree of life visually compelling and enables us to trace any branch of the evolution of life back through time to see how it connects.

You can use the curved timescale to find common ancestors and see the five mass extinctions marked by an abrupt decrease in the diversity of life, and afterward followed by renewed diversity.
